Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend behind the cursed tape and how Katie's friend Becca was placed in an institution after Katie's demise. Rachel also discovers Katie's boyfriend, as well as two of her buddies died in bizarre accidents on the same night around 10 PM. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she stays in Cabin 12. Rachel investigates the tape in order to determine the location of the lighthouse. It was on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan who was cursed as a horse breeder, appeared on the tape. When she investigates, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara who had the power to burn disturbing images into the minds of people as well as animals and other objects. Rachel is forced to leave Anna's widower Richard when she begins asking questions about Samara.
