Cynthia Ann Crawford, born 20 February 1966, is an American actress, model and a TV star. Through the 1990s and the 1980s she was one of the most popular supermodels , and an omnipresent presence on magazine covers and runways along with fashion shows. In the following years, she expanded her acting career and ventured into business. She was contacted in her sophomore year by a local clothes shop about modeling work. However, it was viewed as a joke by two of her peers. Crawford was one of the high school students hired by another retailer, who also did a fashion shoot. Roger Legel (a local photographer) approached Crawford in her junior year to shoot her. The project included the shooting of Crawford for the magazine. The picture and the favorable feedback the magazine received helped encourage her to begin modeling. She began with an agency that was small. Elite Model Management bought it shortly after she signed. At the age of 17, she participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest and advanced to the national finals.
