Barone performed the role of Gail Cunningham in The Shoes from Seinfeld season four. Barone was a chef named Elaine Benes who wanted shoes. Then in the 90s, Barone appeared as a regular in the show Carol & Company alongside Carol Burnett. Barone was also the husband of Carol Willick Ross Geller in Friends her first appearance. Jane Sibbett was her replacement after Barone left Friends in pursuit of a new role that required additional time. She starred in The Jeff Foxworthy Show during the initial season (1995-1996) and The War at Home between 2005-2007. In 2000 Barone also co-starred in The sitcom Daddio. Matthew Glave, Barone's actor husband was a guest on 2 episodes on Shake It Up in the role as J.J. Jones.
